Simple Definition of significant
- large enough to be noticed or have an effect
- very important
- having a special or hidden meaning
There are days where I wake up and wonder how important the life I lead is - from the time I get up until the time I go to sleep, I'm almost always with my children. The first thing I do every single morning is feed them, put new clothes on them, and make sure they're good to go for the day. Our routine rarely differs from one day to the next; there is a schedule for both school days and non-school days.
When my boys were young, it felt like they were going to be young forever, and that what I was doing wasn't very important in the grand scheme of things. I was just a mom. I was just a bartender. I didn't feel important to anyone. I was wrong.
Today, my boys are 13 and 10. My older son wants to be a pilot, and my younger son wants to be an engineer. Both are on the honor roll, and both have won the citizenship award for their respective grades at school. My older son is a member of the Civil Air Patrol, and my younger son belongs to a Lego Club and a Robotics Club. Of course, these days I'm still rocking out the same schedule every day, but I don't feel insignificant at all.
What's changed? Well, as my boys have grown, I have seen the fruits of my labor. (And I get to do it all over again with the girls!) I have also, with the help of my husband, started our network marketing empire through my Poofy Organics business and his Beachbody business. As part of such, we sit aside 20 minutes a day for what we call Professional Development, which has helped me see the world in a different light and get to know a side of myself that I wasn't even sure was in there. No matter what you do for a living, I highly recommend professional/personal development to help bring you to the next level of yourself!
Aside from that, I learned that what I do is important! I help bring better, organic products to the people that need them, and I also help to improve the lives of those around me through fitness and eating healthy- even if they don't purchase a product from me or my husband! The biggest compliment in my line of work is when someone tells me that I've inspired them to live a healthier life or they've been able to make new progress in their life because it means to them, I am significant.
Do you question if you're living a significant life? Don't any longer. Encourage those around you, be kind to those you love (and don't love!), and be good to yourself.
