I have been talking so much lately about my venture into becoming a consultant for Poofy Organics. I know that for some people, it can be a drag to see some lady you're connected with on Facebook talking about "the dream," but for me, it's my real life. This is what I do, and since what I do brings me joy, I talk about it sometimes. And yes, I even make money doing it. And if you're a consultant or considering becoming a consultant for a company, you can make money too!
What I love about network marketing in general is that the rules are all the same. It's like an affiliate program on steroids - you receive a commission when people are compelled to buy through you. But unlike an affiliate program, you are providing customer service instead of just being a gateway to their program, so you have the opportunity to make more money. With a little bit of elbow grease, you can reach the sky!
SOME PEOPLE ARE TURNED OFF BY NETWORK MARKETING
This is probably the hardest obstacle you will overcome if you make the decision to become a consultant. There will be people who will delete you out of their lives once they realize you're now running your own business through a network marketing company because they don't appreciate your hustle to support your family. They think that people that talk or post on social media about the companies they're affiliated with are annoying, but here's the thing - if you owned your own business or worked for another company, chances are you'd still talk about whatever you're doing with your life! These people are negative and to be honest, I don't even miss them. If they don't want to see what I'm doing with my life and be happy for me because I'm happy, I don't need them!
FIND YOUR BALANCE
The most important thing a network marketer can do is to find their balance in life. The majority of my social media posts are about ME and my family. When people talk to me in real life, I don't really talk about what I do unless I'm asked about it or it somehow comes up in conversation (and no, I don't force it in). I don't want my friends to feel like they're my paycheck because they're not. Would I love it if all my friends used Poofy Organics products? Heck yes I would! Do they need to use the products to stay in my life? Absolutely not.
BE THE SOLUTION
As a self-employed hustler in general, I had to realize that no matter what I was doing, to make money I had to solve someone's problem. I can't sell an article to a magazine that's not looking for content. I can't sell life coaching to someone that has their plan already mapped out. And I can't sell an acne product to someone that doesn't have acne. If someone doesn't have a problem, you can't offer them a solution. And you'll also have to accept that sometimes, even when you offer a solution, people won't want your solution - just remember, that's okay! There are skeptics everywhere, which is why I am happy to send out samples of products I already have or offer freebies, like my free Power Hour coaching sessions or even the advice I hand out for free in my blog.
Being self-employed can bring stress. My income varies. I do a lot of my own bookkeeping, website upkeep, filing, and scheduling, but I get to do it from my couch (literally most days) and also in my PJs. I get to work my schedule around my family's schedule, so I'm no longer missing basketball and soccer games, and I don't have to have my girls in daycare while my husband works. I can hang out with my friends as I please and even plan spa days for them at my leisure - a perk they're all about! While I a steady income, I don't love working at jobs I'm overqualified for that don't challenge me at all - and as a military spouse, finding a good-paying at each new duty station every other year is laughable. I'm finally using that degree I overpaid for! And, no one tells me what to do, how to do it, or makes up silly rules! And the best part? My monthly income average is already double than I was making at my old job - and I don't have to leave my house or my pajamas to do it! :) Enjoy life everyone!
